H5P – http://h5p.org

H5P is defined as

  • Create Richer HTML5 Content in Existing Publishing Platforms
  • Share Content Seamlessly Across Any H5P Capable Site
  • Reuse and modify Content in Your Browser at Any Time

H5P makes it easy to create, share and reuse HTML5 content and applications. H5P empowers everyone to create rich and interactive web experiences more efficiently - all you need is a web browser and a web site with an H5P plugin.

I’ve been using H5P for about 2 years and have found it to be the next ‘big thing’ in eLearning. H5P bridges some of the gaps that have been missing in online learning, and does it in such a simple manner that you don’t need to be a developer or have a technical background.

The most exciting library in the H5P arsenal, in my opinion, is the ability to overlay questions over a video. This allows for some engaging formative assessments to occur. With the ability to interface to some LMS’ and CMS’ and provide xAPI statements to an LRS, H5P is incredibly flexible.

Since commencing to use H5P, I’ve been able to create engaging videos and presentations and in particular, pushed the ability to use 360 video and stills with H5P creating another level of engagement.

The learning process has been exciting and I chose to become actively involved in the H5P community (using Connectivisim and Social Learning theories). I continue to promote H5P and think about how it can be pushed to create learning tools for the next generation of online learning.

The example below is using a combination of Marzipano and H5P using 360 images of a Museum.
