I recently came across this article that talks about how Augmented Reality (AR) is making it’s way into the consumer world. I have to agree with what the author, Peter H. Diamandis , MD says in the article that the technology is now permeating the consumer products space.
As I start to dive deeper into what AR can do for education, particularly in the Adult Learning world of Vocational Training, there is a massive shift coming when using technology in learning. The world was not ready for Google Glasses back in April 2013 and chose to focus more on the Virtual Reality (VR) space. Leap forward 6 years, and the world is ow ready.
Currently, I believe that most of the AR solutions for glasses are simply an extension of the phone, a lot like a smart watch. I also believe that a change is coming, and very soon that will allow us to use AR glasses in the same way we currently use our phones with AR Apps. Apple and Facebook are already developing something to bring this tech into the consumer market.
These are exciting times to be in the digital learning space!
