I get asked this question a lot and usually my first response is something like ‘Oh, wait to you see this, it is sooooooo cool! Here, let me show you’…..
H5P is transforming the way we deliver learning and what’s really awesome is that it is so simple to use. A colleague who continuously tells me how technically challenged he is with digital learning solutions, was able to create a simple interactive video with questions in less than 10 minutes. Making things so easy to use is empowering facilitators and teachers to develop the resources for learning is the heart of H5P’s solution.
H5P uses content types to deliver HTML5 packages (hence the name H5P) to any browser. The content types have predominantly designed to work in Learning or Content Management Systems. H5P is designed to work in WordPress or Drupel and whilst it was always designed for Moodle, recently it was announced that H5P is now core in Moodle (which is awesome!). H5P do offer a Software as a Service (SaaS) to host content. The SaaS also includes Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI).
What H5P is not is working as a standalone application. Whilst there are some solutions out there that do allow for standalone running, H5P works best in a CMS, LMS or LTI via SaaS.
Below is a short slideshow (embedded from H5P) content type that is managed and updated by the guys at H5P.
the best way to learn is to go and have a play. Head over to http://h5p.com and sign up for a 30 day trial and just start playing. You’ll be surprised just how easy it is. Or, head over to http://h5p.org to find out more.
If you’ve got any questions or queries or would like to know more or how you can use H5P, please just shoot me an email or reach out over social media 🙂
